Summer edit

Well hello!

Happening now.
Fantastic news! My painting, Wisteria, was just accepted into Archway Gallery's 15th Annual Juried Exhibition, benefiting community partner, Be the Peace - Be the Hope, with Juror John Bernhard. The exhibition will run July 8 through August 3. I am so thrilled!

If you’re local, I’d love to see you at the opening reception this Saturday, July 8, from 5 - 8 p.m. Juror remarks and awards are at 6:30 p.m. There will be complimentary valet parking and light refreshments.

If you can’t make it on Saturday, Archway Gallery is located at 2305 Dunlavy, Houston, TX 77006 and regular business hours are Tues. - Sat. 10-6 and Sun 1-5.

Nourishing me.
Currently my work is still available at Les Scissors Salon. I have felt so supported by this local business and love seeing glimpses of a painting or two with their creative stylists hard at work in the pictures on their IG account. They even have me featured in their IG highlights! Look for the Artist Network button. It has been such a great season of having my work out in the community and being seen. I know some of my artist friends will relate to the feeling of working away in the studio and feeling a little invisible in between shows or opportunities. This has really helped me.

Go check it out online or in person and enjoy the art and the next level vibe of this salon. Open 7 days a week, 10-5. 4829 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479.

Keeping them fed.
Ok. So you know I’d rather be in my studio painting, but my people still have to eat. For now, I am just not enjoying spending my time and energy in the kitchen the way that I used to. I hadn’t realized just how much resentment had built up about it until a recent conversation with a good friend. It made me think about how I was still holding on to some big (unrealistic) standards for myself and I wasn’t asking for the help that I wanted and needed. Even though I thought I was letting myself off the hook before, I am lowering my expectations for myself even more and it feels so good. Yes to less!

So I highly recommend getting yourself a good friend that will listen and recommend things like Sandwich Night for dinner. Sandwich night was a huge success and is a weekly staple for us. I recommend sliced turkey and roast beef and a couple different cheeses from the deli. Lay’s potato chips. Put all of the weird condiments that are taking up all the door space in your fridge. Let everyone build their own. Everyone eats and no one complains. Love it!

I hope you are taking time to recharge this summer!  I'm so glad you’re here.❤️
