Filled to the brim

Well hello!

Happening now.
Sugar Land Arts Fest 2023 was an incredible first art festival experience. It’s in the books and I could not be happier about how everything went. I made some sales and learned so much. My brain and my heart were filled to the brim. It was pure joy meeting people in my booth and connecting through art. And, I may be slightly biased but my new clients are the most brilliant and kind people on this earth. If you’re receiving this newsletter because you made a purchase at the Arts Fest, just know that you were the cherry on top of the whole weekend. Thank you so much!

More exciting news!!!

You can now go see my work on display at Les Scissors Salon in Sugar Land! Salon owners, Cullen and Penny, who I met at SLAF, have opened up their business to celebrate and support local artists. This has always been part of the vision for how they wanted to run their business. They do everything they can to support the artistry of their stylists as well and you can sense this expansive philosophy when you walk in the door.

As an artist finding my way, it’s such a boost to receive this extravagant generosity from folks like these who care so much about their customers, staff and their community. Go check it out and enjoy the art and the next level vibe of this salon. Open 7 days a week, 10-5. 4829 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77479.

Nourishing me.
I have been reading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Taking my time getting through it. In it she talks about The Virtue Trap. The artist must have downtime, creative solitude, withdrawal from family, friends, obligations. It’s necessary but tough to defend and prioritize, especially if you are a woman and a mother. We are taught to put ourselves second and ever applauded for it. But, we are abandoning ourselves.

“Afraid to appear selfish, we lose our self. We become self-destructive.”-Julia Cameron.

Thanks Julia. That’s some good stuff.

Keeping them fed.
Ok. So I would prefer to be in my studio painting over most things but my people have to eat. These last two months I have been seriously short on time and very, very tired. So I’ve been buying ready made chicken enchiladas from Sam’s, lots of Cane’s Chicken and frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizza from the grocery store. And you know what? The world did not end and no one got sick or died. The healthy eating police did not knock on my door to scold me and I’m pretty sure that my 15 year old thoroughly enjoyed the break from vegetables. I prioritized sanity over perfection. 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Well...that's it. I’m going to go jump in the shower, get dressed in comfortable clothes, skip the makeup and go have coffee with a good friend.

I'm so glad you’re here.❤️
