Be brave loves. ❤️
WIP. Trying to get my footing again in the studio after being out for over a week. Do you ever have a block of time that you think you’re going to get some good painting in and it turns out to be nothing but interruptions the whole time? 😏
Hello from Texas. It's been a week. We had both water and electricity until our pipes burst and then had to temporarily turn off our water. I thought we were going to have to wait for a very long time to see a plumber. But we got lucky again. Our amazing plumber @selectplumbing arrived the next morning. That same morning he had received close to 70 calls for help before he left the house.
The view from my studio today. Inspiring today’s palette I think.
To the edge of doom and beyond @brad.baird.76
Friday night detail WIP. Stopping point.
D’oh! Thinking about trying out some gorilla glue on this poor soldier. Any recommendations? #brushesarenotcheap
Perfect drizzly day to be in the studio. The dusting can wait one more day.
Take care of yourself this weekend. ❤️
It’s Friday y’all and we are done.
Ok florals. Geez. I’m working on a series of 12. For some reason some part of my brain has been suggesting incorporating florals in several of the pieces. Pretty much outright nagging. I’ve really resisted...until today...and I finally let florals come out to play. Dang it. Turns out I really like this direction.
Today’s scritch-scratch. When my son was in 1st grade he was diagnosed with dysgraphia. It’s been tough for him to accept that his writing and drawing never looks likes his classmates, especially in an educational system that values conformity and uniformity. One day he told me that his friends said his work looked like scritch-scratch. He was sad about it and I was so angry. I actually love what he draws and paints. I have his artwork all over the house and in my studio for inspiration. His marks and expression are amazing. He doesn’t really draw or paint much anymore, having become discouraged very early on. I hope he returns to his art. For now, I use the term scratch-scratch in my own artwork as the biggest compliment I can find.
Working on letting go, because expecting perfection is my personal black hole. What's yours?
Quitting time. Too much paint left on the palette and not enough time left in the day. I’m a little bit disappointed and my inner critic tells me that i did not meet the expectations. Today I’m choosing sleep so that I have enough in the tank for tomorrow. Deep breaths.
Friday night details. Savoring the thick and thin of this WIP that may or may not make it to the finish. 😱
Favorite tools: Stencils
I'm a sucker for Shakespeare.
Friday night lights...
Darlings. One way that I’m trying to keep from getting too precious about areas that I really like early on is to take a picture of those details. Here are a few to share with you from my latest in-process series. Excited to get back to them but today’s virtual schooling needs some serious mothering. 🤬🤣
Yup yup! Getting rolling on this new series. It feels so good to have this space. #guesswhatigotforchristmas #savingmysanity #thankful
