comfort of flowers | mixed media on birch panel | 12×12 in | $200 USD* | framed
When I find myself drawing or painting flowers, it’s a signal for me that I am seeking comfort. I’ve recognized this pattern in my process. It points to feelings that I’m out of my safe zone in some way. It’s possible that I’m risking something in my creative process, trying something new or being bold perhaps. It’s also possible that I’m facing some fear or avoiding some shift in my world. Could be a combo of both. I painted this one while making a big investment in my artistic self while watching the world come undone with Covid. When I finished, it felt like a true triumph, an occasion worthy of flowers.
