breath + bone

breath-bone2breath + bone | acrylic and oil stick on canvas | 18 x 24 | gallery wrapped canvas | $250.00 USD

…of the dust of the ground, and breathed into her nostrils the breath of life; and she became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

When creating this piece, I thought a lot about the idea of being stripped down to the rawness, the essence of who I am, of breath and bone; the frailty of dust and the life giving breath of the Universe. When I put aside all of who I am pretending to be or trying to become, when I surrender everything, offering just being, this is my own everyday version of death and resurrection.
